Yesterday we had the pleasure welcoming Ambassador Yesterday we had the pleasure welcoming Ambassador Michael Milton to the Canberra Disability Expo. For those of you who don't know Michael, he is a 7-time Paralympian, our most decorated winter Paralympian, 3-time cancer survivor, husband, father, business person, speaker and disability advocate. Not content with conquering the Paralympics, Micheal is also an endurance athlete competing in multiple endurance events including climbing Mt Kilimanjaro and concurring the Kokoda trail - not once but twice. As a disability advocate, he has dedicated his life to encouraging others to focus on what is possible, not what stands in their way. Thanks Michael for bringing your energy to the Canberra Disability Expo, hosted by @ImpactInstitute

What happens when employers, support services and What happens when employers, support services and people with disability come together with a shared goal? Our latest evaluation report explores this through the massive success of our WorkAbility Expos Program. Through WorkAbility Expos, people with disability, including those with high support needs, gained greater understanding of employment pathways, connected directly with inclusive employers, and accessed information about the supports available to help them succeed. We found that: โœ” Participants expanded their knowledge of employment pathways and available supports โœ” Connections with employers created new opportunities for future employment โœ” Workshops increased confidence and readiness to pursue work goals ๐Ÿ‘‰ What does it mean? When employers embrace inclusive hiring and people have access to the right information, support and networks, it leads to a more inclusive workforce.
